Throw-In

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 10 June 2026

Throw-In (throwin.ie) is a free service for following GAA fixtures, results, live scores, and broadcaster information. This page explains, in plain English, what data the service handles and why. The short version: there are no accounts, no advertising, no tracking across other sites, and nothing is ever sold.

Who is responsible for your data

Throw-In is the data controller for throwin.ie. If you have any questions about this policy, or you want to exercise any of the rights described below, you can reach us at throwingaa@gmail.com.

What we collect, and why

Usage analytics. We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand which parts of the app are used, so we can improve it. This is privacy-friendly by design: it does not use cookies, and it does not identify you. A visitor identifier is derived by hashing basic request information (such as IP address and browser type) into an anonymous value that rotates daily; the raw information is not retained. We record page views and a small set of interaction events (for example, that a filter was opened or a notification was enabled) — never who you are.

Push notification subscriptions.Only if you choose to turn on notifications, we store what is needed to send them: the anonymous push endpoint your browser or device provides, the cryptographic keys required to deliver a notification to it, the counties and competitions you selected to follow, your browser’s user-agent string, and timestamps. This endpoint is an anonymous address at your browser or operating system’s push service — it does not tell us who you are. You can turn notifications off at any time using the bell icon, which deletes your subscription. Subscriptions that expire are removed automatically.

On-device preferences.Your chosen counties, clubs, competitions, filters, and selected views are saved in your browser’s local storage, on your device. This stays on your device and is not sent to us (except where it forms part of a push subscription you created). Clearing your browser’s site data removes it.

What we do not collect

We do not ask you to create an account or log in. We do not collect your name, email address, or phone number (unless you choose to email us). We do not collect payment information, precise location, or advertising identifiers. We do not use third-party advertising trackers, and we never sell or rent your data.

Cookies

Throw-In does not use cookies for analytics or advertising, and so does not show a cookie consent banner. The local device storage we use only remembers preferences you set yourself, which does not require consent.

Who processes data on our behalf

A small number of service providers handle data so the app can run. Vercel provides hosting and the privacy-friendly analytics described above. Supabase provides the database that stores push subscriptions, hosted in the EU (Frankfurt, Germany). When you enable notifications, the push service belonging to your browser or device maker (for example Google, Apple, or Mozilla) delivers the messages. Cloudflare provides DNS. Each handles only the minimal data needed for its role.

Where your data is stored and how long we keep it

Push subscription data is stored in the EU and kept until you turn notifications off or the subscription expires, at which point it is deleted. Analytics data is retained by Vercel in aggregate form for a limited period and is not tied to an identifiable person. On-device preferences remain on your device until you clear them.

Your rights

If you are in the EU or UK, data protection law gives you rights over your personal data, including the right to access it, correct it, have it erased, restrict or object to its use, and request portability. To exercise any of these, email us at throwingaa@gmail.com. Because push subscriptions are anonymous, we may need details that help us identify the specific subscription in order to action a request. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority — in Ireland, the Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie).

Children

Throw-In is a general-audience service about GAA fixtures and results. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “last updated” date at the top of this page.
